Reece Burke Joins Hull City

Hull City have completed a second signing in the space of 24 hours after agreeing a deal to bring defender Reece Burke to the KCOM Stadium from West Ham United for an undisclosed fee.

Burke, 21, has signed a three-year deal with an additional one-year option held by the Club and adds further to the Tigers’ defensive options for the new season.

A strong centre back, Burke has been on West Ham’s books since the age of nine but he is now ready and excited to make a fresh start in East Yorkshire.

“I’m over the moon to have signed for Hull City,” said Burke, who has flown out to Portugal to join up with the rest of the first team squad at their training camp on the Algarve.

“I enjoy playing football and I see this move as a big opportunity for me. I’ve had a good chat with the Head Coach and I know that the Club were really keen to bring me here. That is a nice feeling to have.”

Burke made 15 senior appearances after progressing through the ranks with the Hammers, but it has been during loan spells that the bulk of his first team experience has been gained.

He has spent the majority of the last two seasons in the Championship with Wigan Athletic and Bolton Wanderers respectively, and he won the Player of the Season award during a season-long loan at Bradford City in 2015/16 a year after being named West Ham’s Young Player of the Year.

Burke has also represented England at U18, U19 and U20 level.
