Hull City head to Oakwell on Saturday afternoon to face Barnsley in their penultimate pre-season outing (KO 3pm).
Jarrod Bowen, Jon Toral and Jackson Irvine could all return to action in South Yorkshire as the Tigers’ preparations ahead of the 2018/19 Championship campaign near conclusion.
Bowen and Toral have missed the last two run-outs due to minor injuries, while Irvine will be hoping to make his first pre-season appearance having only recently returned from an extended break due to his involvement in this summer’s World Cup Finals in Russia with Australia.
Ondrej Mazuch misses out once again, whilst George Long will be hoping for his first taste of action as Hull City following his switch from Sheffield United having had a watching brief against both Rochdale and Newcastle United.
Barnsley, who were relegated from the Championship on the final day of last season, host the Tigers looking to bounce back from a 3-2 defeat to West Brom on Tuesday night.
The Tykes went 2-0 up inside ten minutes at Oakwell with Lloyd Isgrove and Kieffer Moore on the scoresheet, but the Baggies responded with three unanswered goals to inflict a first pre-season loss on Daniel Stendel’s side having registered victories over Gainsborough Trinity (2-0), York City (7-1) and Salford City (1-0) in their previous three friendly fixtures.
