Seb Larsson is looking forward to a big battle when the Tigers host promotion-chasing Cardiff City at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday.
Cardiff will arrive in East Yorkshire knowing that victory would put the Premier League within touching distance, but Larsson says his side’s aim of a strong finish to the campaign should make for an entertaining afternoon.
“Just like every other game, we’re going into this one looking to win it,” said Larsson.
“After last weekend we know that we’re not in relegation danger anymore, so now is the time that we start building towards next season as well as looking to finish this campaign as well as we can so that we go into the summer break with a good feeling.
“On Saturday we’re playing against a side that still has a lot to play for in the fight for promotion and that is a good thing because it is going to be a competitive game.
“We have to put in a performance and we owe that to every team in the league that is fighting for something as well as to ourselves.
“We’re going into this game aiming to put in the best performance that we can.”
Reflecting on last weekend’s draw with Bristol City, a result which secured Championship status for next season, Larsson added: “It wasn’t a feeling of happiness, more relief really.
“We didn’t celebrate because safety wasn’t the aim at the start of the season. We’ve had to find our way out of the tricky situation that we were in and I think we’ve been a much better and stronger team in our last 12 or 15 games.
“So yes, really it was just a feeling of relief last weekend and now we’re looking to finish this season in a strong way.”
