Jackson Irvine came on as a second half substitute as Australia continued their preparations for the World Cup with a 4-0 rout of the Czech Republic on Friday.
Irvine entered the action in the 66th minute, replacing Tom Rogic with the Socceroos already two goals to the good thanks to strikes from Mathew Leckie and Andrew Nabbout.
Leckie added his second soon after Irvine’s arrival, with a late own goal rounding off the scoring.
Irvine will now hope to have done enough to earn a place in coach Bert van Marwijk’s final squad for the tournament, with the deadline for submissions set for Monday.
Australia get their World Cup campaign underway against France on Saturday 16th June, with one more warm-up fixture to come against Hungary on June 9th.
