In Pictures: Tigers Make History In Kenya

13th May, 2018 - a date that goes down in history books as the Tigers faced Kenyan League Champions Gor Mahia in front of a sell-out crowd at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi.

The 60,000-seater capacity stadium was filled to its seams to witness the rare spectacle and after an evenly-contested match that ended in a goalless draw, it was Nigel Adkins’ side who emerged as victors in a penalty shoot-out.

Substitute goalkeeper Callum Burton was the Tigers’ hero, making three saves in the shoot-out. the most crucial denying Cercidy Okeyo the chance to seal victory for Gor Mahia when the Kenyan side held a 3-2 advantage. Jon Toral, Kevin Stewart, Billy Chadwick all found the back of the net from 12 yards for the Tigers before Hull-born Robbie McKenzie slotted home the winning penalty.

The Kasarani Stadium had not witnessed such a huge crowd for a football match since the Kenyan national side entertained the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a 1998 FIFA World Cup qualifier, and the fans inside the rocking venue were not disappointed with the action they witnessed on the pitch.
