Signed from Barnsley in January 2018, Angus MacDonald arrived to add further depth to the Tigers’ defensive options.

MacDonald came through the youth ranks at Reading but didn’t make a senior appearance for the Royals as he enjoyed loan spells with Torquay United and AFC Wimbledon before being allowed to join Salisbury City in 2013.

The centre back then moved to Torquay and spent two full season with the Gulls, his performances attracting plenty of admirers from higher up the football pyramid.

Championship side Barnsley made the move to sign MacDonald in August 2016 and after 41 appearances in his first season at Oakwell he was made club captain at the start of the 2017/18 season, before joining the Tigers midway through.
