The Tigers' new full-time Academy scholars were officially welcomed to the Club earlier this month at an induction evening held at the KCOM Stadium.
Some new faces joined others who have already been at the Club – and progressed through the Academy ranks – for a number of years to put pen-to-paper on their two-year scholarship contracts.
Quinn Thompson, Harvey Cartwright, Harry Wood, Tommy Best, Jake Bayram, David Robson, Andy Smith and Robert Guilfoyle will all join the Academy on a full-time basis when the players return to our Bishop Burton College base for pre-season training this summer.
The players – along with their parents and relatives – were able to officially meet all the Academy coaching and administration staff and hear about the programme they will be following over the two years of their scholarship, with the aim for all – to win that first professional contract.
Reflecting on the evening, Academy Manager Jon Beale said: “It’s always important to make sure everyone is welcomed properly to the Academy and celebrate what the players have achieved in securing what is probably one of the most difficult contracts to earn in the professional pathway.
“The Induction Evening is always a special occasion. It’s both enjoyable and informative, providing a great opportunity for the players and their parents to come in and get an overview of what life will be like when they start their scholarship at the back end of June.
“The message to each and every one of them now is that the hard work really starts. Importantly we’ll give them all the support that they need across all the different areas of the Academy programme, and it is up to the boys to work as hard as they can to make the most of their opportunity.”
