Reece Burke is looking forward to testing himself against Premier League opposition as Hull City return to the KCOM Stadium to face Newcastle United this evening (KO 7.45pm).
Rafa Benitez’s side make the trip to East Yorkshire for what is the Tigers’ penultimate friendly fixture ahead of the 2018/19 Championship campaign and summer signing Burke is excited about the prospect of pitting his wits against the quality within the Magpies’ squad.
“We’ve got a hard game coming up against Newcastle tonight but it will be a good test for us,” he said.
“It will probably be our hardest test of pre-season so far in terms of opposition, but it’s a good chance for us to see where we’re at ourselves and what we still need to work on.
“First and foremost, pre-season is about fitness. It was good for myself and the rest of the lads who started against Rochdale to get 75 minutes under our belts, but we all know that there are still things for the team to work on.
“Results aren’t the be-all and end-all right now but it would be good to come away with a positive result against Premier League opposition this evening. We’re all looking forward to the challenge.”
Tickets for tonight’s game remain on sale online (print at home only), whilst fans can also buy in person from Tiger Leisure and self-service kiosks. Tickets are priced at £7.50 for seats in Zone 1 and £9 for seats in Zones 2 and 3.
