Match Preview: Hull City vs Newcastle United

Hull City continue their pre-season preparations on home soil this evening as Newcastle United provide the opposition at the KCOM Stadium (KO 7.45pm).

With talents such as Jonjo Shelvey, Ayoze Perez and ex-Tiger Mo Diamé in Rafa Benitez’s squad, the game is likely to provide a stern test for Nigel Adkins’ side in what is the Tigers’ penultimate friendly fixture ahead of the start of the 2018/19 Championship campaign.

It’s been a busy summer transfer window so far at the KCOM with six new faces already through the door, all of the new arrivals expected to feature at some point against the Premier League side.

However, Adkins will be without the services of Ondrej Mazuch after it was confirmed that the centre-back is likely to be sidelined for up to two months with a knee injury, whilst doubts remain over the fitness of both Jarrod Bowen and Jon Toral.

The Tigers will be looking for a positive result and performance as they bid to bounce back from Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Rochdale, whilst Newcastle registered a 2-0 win over St. Patrick’s Athletic in what has been their only pre-season fixture to-date.

The Magpies last visited the KCOM Stadium back in November 2016, losing on penalties in the fifth round of the EFL Cup after the game finished 1-1 after extra-time.

Tickets for tonight’s game remain on sale online (print at home only), whilst fans can also buy in person from Tiger Leisure and self-service kiosks. Tickets are priced at £7.50 for seats in Zone 1 and £9 for seats in Zones 2 and 3.
